Named after the earth goddess, "Gaea", Gaea was the true beginning of Odi et Amo Salukis. She was Francis's foundation bitch, his first saluki and his first show dog. Gaea was a lovely bitch with excellent conformation. She never finished her championship for many reasons. Francis was relatively inexperienced in showing dogs and he was also more interested in breeding than showing. However, Gaea was pointed in the show ring. Gaea was a top producer for Odi et Amo, producing a total of four champions in two litters. All four of these dogs finished their championships in the same year, making Gaea one of the top producing bitches that year.
Gaea passed on her type to her children and she traces in all of our current pedigrees. She can also be found behind some of the dogs from Bill Flynn's Silvershadow salukis, Lisa Bunting's Raszuli, Gail Goodman's Midbar, Mary Ridgely's Medira, Sue Ann Pietros' Monab and Marilyn LaBrache Brown's Dadaelis. Her progeny were also used in Lee Marsh's Windsong line and the Banks' Hasue line. The Hasue dogs trace in some current Raszuli pedigrees. Gaea had a major impact on the Odi et Amo breeding program and is lovingly remembered today.
